The MH/USA Hockey High Performance 15, 16 and 17 programs are designed to identify the best players in Minnesota and to provide the top players from each district/section a chance to play with and against the best players in the state. At the conclusion of the Reebok Minnesota Hockey High Performance programs at each level our top 15-25 players represent Minnesota Hockey at a national festival/camp sponsored by USA Hockey involving the best players from each of the USAH districts. The national festivals/camps are used by USAH to identify the top performers in each age group for possible opportunities to represent the U.S.A. at advanced levels of national and international hockey competition.
Phase I: Tryouts -- Candidates are nominated by their Bantam A or High School coach.

Phase II: Development - At the end of Phase I Tryout (3/27) a group of 30 players will be chosen to participate in a 3 week training/development program. (12 ice Hours) Cost $190.00
Phase III - Seeding - At the end of Phase II (4/15) 20 final participants (12F, 6D and 2G) will be chosen to participate in the Reebok MN Hockey High Performance Spring Festival. There will be additional team practices and two seeding games to determine our District placing in the Festival. Cost $187.00
Phase IV - Festival - The 20 players will represent District 2 at the Spring Festival at Wakota Arena in South St. Paul, April 27-29, 2012. Three games will be played against the states other districts. State evaluators will choose the top 102 players from all districts to go on to the Summer Festival.
Phase 5 June 11 - 16, 2012 Minnesota Hockey Summer Camp, St. Cloud

Expense of this festival is shared equally by the participants and is based on actual cost less grants received from Minnesota Hockey (MH) and USA Hockey. 102 selected players participate in a weeklong training camp at St. Cloud State University. Housing and meals are provided.
Six teams play a round robin schedule of games, attend dry land training sessions, and classroom sessions daily. The staff at the Summer Festival will be headed by Camp Director, John Perry of Minnesota Hockey and will include prominent college and high school coaches teamed with current and former college hockey players to serve as coaches, role models, and counselors for each team.
Player Evaluation: All festival staff members identify and evaluate each player on and off the ice. Nightly staff meetings are held to discuss player performance. The summer coaching staff members then rank the top 21 players plus alternates. Numerical values are assigned to each player to establish rank position. Final player rankings are then calculated according to their total number values, from the coaching staff. The 21 players (7 defensemen, 12 forwards, 2 goal tenders) with the highest totals for each position are selected to represent Minnesota District at the USA Hockey National Select 15 Development camp. Nine (9) alternate players are determined similarly.

In partnership with the Herb Brooks Foundation, Minnesota Hockey will run a warm up/skills camp prior to the USA Hockey Select 15 National Development Camp. The camp will be held on July 10-13, 2012 at the Schwan’s Super Rink on the National Sports Center campus in Blaine, Minnesota. The Minnesota Hockey national camp selectees and alternates will participate in the skills camp.

USA Hockey and Minnesota Hockey pay some of the Minnesota player expense. The best players in the United States from all USA Hockey Districts team up with the best coaches in the USA to participate in a player development camp. All players are evaluated for possible future participation in National USA Hockey programs.
